I don’t know if you’ve been keeping up with the west coast weather lately, but that heat wave I can’t stop talking about has continued this week.
I have been a sun worshiper since I was a little girl growing up in Ottawa and spending my summers basking in the hot heat at the cottage. From Ottawa I moved to the stunning island of Bermuda where I lived for three years with glorious weather. When my husband and I moved to Vancouver in November, I was dreading coming back to the west coast due to their rainy, sunless summers (I lived in Victoria, BC for three years). We were welcomed with an absolutely gorgeous winter filled with sunshine and very few rain days. The rainy summer I was dreading so much has turned into an absolutely gorgeous couple of months with constant record-breaking temperatures.
When the weather is warm, and the sun is beating down, I tend to gravitate towards flowy skirts and dresses to stay cool in the dry, muggy weather. This vintage-inspired print dress from Topshop has been on heavy rotation in my closet this season. This dress can be dressed down with sandals for a casual weekend lunch or can be dressed up with heels and a couple of statement accessories for a weekend dinner date. You could even get away with wearing this dress to a casual outdoor wedding, destination wedding, or even a bridal shower. Due to the fun ties on the side, this little number must be worn sans bra; this shouldn’t be too much of an issue as the dress is double lined and fits pretty snug.
What are some of your go-to pieces to stay stylish and cool in the warm summer months?
